Hours marked Estimate are not the Elexon Market Index Price. They are elpriser.org’s own statistical model, not the Elexon number, an estimate for hours that have not traded yet, calculated from the hours already priced, the weather outlook and the calendar. Each one is replaced by the Elexon price as soon as it is published.
Forecast days come from elpriser.org’s own statistical model, not an official forecast. It is best at picking out the cheapest hours of a day and much less sure of the price level: since prices rose sharply in September 2026 it has been no better than a simple method at the level. Settled day-ahead prices always replace the forecast.

Electricity price in Great Britain
- Great Britain (GB): avg. today 18.6 p/kWh, avg. tomorrow 19.1 p/kWh
Market Index Price (within-day) excluding VAT, taxes, levies and network charges. This is not the day-ahead auction price. The Market Index Price (within-day) is the volume-weighted price of the within-day wholesale trades of each half hour (EPEX SPOT UK and N2EX, as reported to Elexon). It is not the day-ahead auction price, which is not free data for Great Britain, and there is no tomorrow: an hour is shown as a price once both of its half hours have traded. Hours that have not traded yet may be shown as an Estimate calculated by elpriser.org, not the Elexon number, replaced by the Elexon price as soon as it is published. Hourly means of the half-hourly prices, calculated by elpriser.org (changed from the original data). Great Britain only: Northern Ireland trades in the all-island market (see Ireland). Prices are in pence. Source: Contains BMRS data © Elexon Limited copyright and database right 2026. Forecast days come from elpriser.org’s own statistical model, not an official forecast.
